As part of the strengthening of its flight operations and the development of its operational capabilities, AIR Congo S.A. is recruiting six (6) B737NG Captains to join its Flight Operations team.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The B737NG Captain is responsible for the safe, efficient and professional operation of AIR Congo's Boeing 737NG aircraft in accordance with applicable aviation regulations, company policies, approved procedures and international aviation safety standards.

The Captain exercises overall command of the aircraft and is responsible for the safety of passengers, crew, aircraft and cargo throughout the operation.

The incumbent plays a central role in maintaining high standards of flight safety, operational discipline, crew coordination and regulatory compliance, while contributing to the continuous development of AIR Congo's Flight Operations.

MISSION OF THE POSITION

The mission of the B737NG Captain is to ensure the safe, efficient and compliant conduct of flight operations in accordance with applicable regulations, AIR Congo's Operations Manual, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and established safety standards.

In this capacity, the Captain is responsible for exercising effective command of the flight crew, making sound operational decisions, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements, and promoting a strong culture of safety, professionalism and Crew Resource Management (CRM).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Flight Operations and Command

The B737NG Captain is responsible for:

  • Exercising overall command and authority over the aircraft and flight crew;
  • Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of assigned flights;
  • Conducting flights in accordance with applicable regulations, company procedures and operational requirements;
  • Conducting appropriate pre-flight, in-flight and post-flight duties;
  • Assessing operational conditions and making appropriate decisions in the interest of flight safety;
  • Ensuring the aircraft is operated within approved limitations;
  • Ensuring compliance with flight plans, procedures and operational instructions;
  • Taking appropriate action during abnormal, emergency or unforeseen situations.

2. Crew Management and Leadership

The Captain will:

  • Provide effective leadership to the flight crew;
  • Promote effective Crew Resource Management (CRM);
  • Establish clear and effective communication within the cockpit;
  • Allocate duties and responsibilities appropriately;
  • Promote teamwork, discipline and a strong safety culture;
  • Monitor crew performance and address operational or safety concerns;
  • Ensure effective coordination between Flight Crew and Cabin Crew.

3. Safety and Operational Standards

The Captain must ensure the highest standards of aviation safety.

In particular, the incumbent will:

  • Apply approved safety and operational procedures;
  • Maintain effective situational awareness;
  • Identify and manage operational risks;
  • Make sound operational decisions based on available information;
  • Report hazards, incidents, occurrences and safety concerns through the appropriate channels;
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the company's Safety Management System (SMS);
  • Promote a proactive safety culture among crew members.

4. Standard Operating Procedures

The Captain is responsible for ensuring:

  • Strict compliance with AIR Congo's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
  • Correct application of aircraft operating procedures;
  • Proper execution of normal, abnormal and emergency procedures;
  • Compliance with applicable checklists and operational instructions;
  • Consistency and standardisation of cockpit practices;
  • Identification and reporting of operational deviations or procedural concerns.

5. Aircraft and Operational Coordination

The Captain will:

  • Ensure that the aircraft is in an acceptable condition for the intended operation;
  • Coordinate effectively with Flight Dispatch, Maintenance, Ground Operations and Cabin Crew;
  • Review relevant aircraft technical and operational information;
  • Ensure that technical defects and operational limitations are appropriately considered;
  • Coordinate with relevant departments in the event of technical, operational or safety issues.

6. Flight Preparation and Documentation

The Captain will:

  • Review flight plans and relevant operational information;
  • Assess weather conditions, NOTAMs, airport information and other relevant factors;
  • Verify required fuel and operational requirements;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable weight, balance and performance requirements;
  • Ensure all required flight documentation is complete and available;
  • Ensure accurate completion of operational and flight records.

7. Emergency and Abnormal Operations

The Captain shall:

  • Exercise effective command during abnormal and emergency situations;
  • Apply applicable emergency and abnormal procedures;
  • Ensure the safety of passengers, crew and aircraft;
  • Coordinate effectively with Air Traffic Control and relevant operational departments;
  • Make timely and appropriate decisions;
  • Ensure appropriate reporting and documentation following significant operational events.

8. Regulatory Compliance

The Captain must ensure compliance with:

  • Applicable national aviation regulations;
  • Applicable ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices;
  • The regulations and requirements of the State of Registry and State of the Operator, as applicable;
  • AIR Congo's Operations Manual;
  • Company policies and procedures;
  • Aircraft operating limitations;
  • Applicable flight and duty time requirements;
  • Licensing, medical, training and competency requirements.

The Captain must maintain all licences, ratings, medical certificates, training and checking requirements necessary to exercise the privileges of the position.

9. Safety Reporting and Continuous Improvement

The Captain is expected to contribute actively to the continuous improvement of AIR Congo's operational and safety standards by:

  • Reporting hazards, incidents, occurrences and safety concerns;
  • Participating in safety programmes and initiatives;
  • Sharing operational lessons learned;
  • Cooperating with Safety, Quality Assurance and Flight Operations teams;
  • Contributing to the identification and mitigation of operational risks;
  • Supporting continuous improvement of operational procedures and practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Hold a current ATPL(A) issued by an ICAO Contracting State and acceptable to the applicable aviation authority;
  • Minimum 5,000 hours total flight time;
  • Minimum 2,500 hours on large multi-engine aircraft above 20 tonnes MTOW;
  • Minimum 1,500 hours PIC experience on multi-pilot aeroplanes;
  • Hold a valid B737-300 to B737-900 type rating with a minimum of 500 hours on type; or
    • For applicants without a current B737 type rating, a minimum of 1,500 hours on jet aircraft;
  • Hold a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate issued or recognised by the applicable aviation authority;
  • Minimum ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 4.

Applicants must also satisfy all applicable licensing, validation, medical, training, checking and competency requirements of the relevant aviation authority prior to commencement of commercial operations with AIR Congo.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Recent B737NG operational experience;
  • Previous international or regional airline experience;
  • Strong experience in multi-crew operations;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of CRM;
  • Strong knowledge of airline SOPs;
  • Previous experience operating in challenging or complex operational environments;
  • Experience within a structured Safety Management System (SMS);
  • Experience in international or cross-border operations;
  • A strong record of operational safety and professionalism.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATION

Successful candidates will be required to complete the applicable AIR Congo Operator Conversion Course (OCC), aircraft-specific training, proficiency checks and competency requirements in accordance with the AIR Congo Operations Manual (OM-D) and applicable regulatory requirements.

Candidates who do not hold a current B737 type rating will be subject to the applicable B737 type-rating and conversion training requirements.

All required training and checking must be successfully completed before the candidate is authorised to conduct commercial operations.

LICENSING AND VALIDATION

Candidates holding licences issued by FAA, EASA or another ICAO Contracting State may be considered, subject to the applicable licensing and validation requirements.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain all approvals, validations, licences, ratings and authorisations required by the competent aviation authority before commencing commercial operations.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Training Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising and monitoring training activities for flight crews and cabin crews.

It ensures that training programs and activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements, aviation safety standards, company procedures and quality management system requirements.

The incumbent plays a central role in maintaining the skills of the crews, developing a safety culture and continuously improving the company's training system.

 

MISSION OF THE POSITION

The Training Manager's mission is to guarantee the efficiency, compliance and quality of AIR Congo S.A.'s crew training system.

In this capacity, he or she is responsible for planning and coordinating training, monitoring crew qualifications and skills, supervising instructors and ensuring that training activities comply with regulatory requirements and safety standards.

It also contributes to the identification of training needs, the assessment of skills and the continuous improvement of training programmes and processes.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Training management and planning

The Training Manager is responsible for:

  • Develop and implement the annual crew training program;
  • Plan initial, recurrent, skills maintenance and qualification training, in accordance with applicable requirements;
  • Coordinate Flight Crew and Cabin Crew training sessions  ;
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory deadlines relating to training, qualifications and controls;
  • Anticipate training needs according to the evolution of operations and personnel;
  • Coordinate training with instructors, examiners, training centres and external providers;
  • Ensure optimal use of available training resources.

 

2. Supervision of Crew Training

The incumbent ensures the quality and effectiveness of the training provided.

In particular, it is responsible for:

  • Supervise flight and cabin crew training activities;
  • Ensure the application of approved training programs and standards;
  • Monitor the performance of trainees and crews;
  • Identify individual or collective needs for further training;
  • Participate in the evaluation of the effectiveness of training;
  • Ensure consistency between operational needs and training programs.

 

3. Aeronautical Rating Requirements

The Training Manager must:

  • Hold an appropriate crew license, including an ATPL that complies with ICAO standards;
  • Be  a valid Type Rating Instructor (TRI) on a B737NG or ATR 72-600;
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Flight Crew and Cabin Crew training concepts and principles  ;
  • Have sufficient operational experience to understand the requirements and constraints of airline operations.

 

4. Aviation Safety and Operational Practices

The Training Manager must have practical experience and expertise in the application:

  • aviation safety standards;
  • safe operating procedures;
  • safety management principles;
  • best practices applicable to flight operations.

In particular, it contributes to:

  • promote a safety culture among crews;
  • integrate lessons learned from operational events into training programmes;
  • Identify training needs related to operational risks;
  • collaborate with the Safety and Flight Operations functions  on safety-related issues.

 

5. Quality Management System

The Training Manager must have a good knowledge of quality management systems.

In this capacity, it ensures in particular to:

  • the application of procedures and quality standards in training activities;
  • the compliance of training records and records;
  • the traceability of the training courses carried out;
  • the identification of deviations and the implementation of corrective actions;
  • continuous improvement of training processes.

He collaborates with the Quality Assurance and Safety teams  to ensure the compliance and effectiveness of the training system.

 

6. Instructor Management and Coordination

The Training Manager ensures coordination with the various instructors and stakeholders involved in the training.

In particular, it is responsible for:

  • Coordinate instructor activities;
  • Ensure the availability of qualified instructors;
  • Participate in the assessment of their professional development needs;
  • Ensure effective communication between instructors and operational teams;
  • Ensure harmonization of training practices.

 

7. Document management and reporting

The incumbent ensures that training documents are kept properly and available.

In particular, it ensures:

  • the follow-up of individual training files;
  • updating registers and databases;
  • the monitoring of qualifications and deadlines;
  • preparation of periodic reports on training activities;
  • the presentation of performance indicators related to training;
  • Documentation of deviations and corrective actions.

 

DESIRED PROFILE

The ideal candidate will have strong operational experience in the aviation sector as well as an excellent understanding of the requirements related to aircrew training.

Qualifications and Experience

The candidate must:

  • Hold an ATPL that complies with ICAO standards ;
  • Be  a valid Type Rating Instructor (TRI) on a B737NG or ATR 72-600;
  • Have hands-on experience in flight operations;
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the functions and processes of a comparable organization;
  • Have a good knowledge of the principles and practices of Safety Management ;
  • Have a good knowledge of quality management systems;
  • Understand the requirements for flight crew and cabin crew training.
